Xbox 360 – Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Tips and Tricks (part 2) – Loose Ends Guide

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Loose Ends Guide

This is a guide to one of the more difficult levels in Modern Warfare 2. This level you take control of Roach as you assault the safe house of Makarov. You start off sneaking up through a minefield filled with bouncing Betty’s, when the land mine comes up into the air you need to lay prone to survive. Fortunately this is the only time you face land mines. Next you are going to be fighting off a whole bunch of heavily armed soldiers in thick smokescreen, use this to your advantage, but be aware that the enemies have mortar support, but if you stay low and take out as many soldiers as you can as quietly as possible you should be able to move through this part of the level with little difficulty.

The next key part of this level is to raid the safe house and eliminate all enemy forces there. This is a wonderful little place to stock up on ammo and supplies. I suggest walking around and assessing every weak point or difficult to cover point in the house as this will be essential knowledge later in the level. Now before progressing the level further, go out to these points and put claymores (in areas such as the driveway and doorways) then go restock before continuing the level.

Once you are ready, begin the download of files from Makarov’s computer, for the rest of the level you will have to protect the download. This is rather difficult; there is an infinite respawn of enemies while the files are downloading. I suggest staying near the computer in the large living room area as you can get a full view of any enemy closing in on you. Also whenever you can go and restock your ammo and weapons and lay more traps for the enemies. Ultimately this is just a battle of attrition and you really just need to keep an eye on the download progress and as soon as it is done get out of that house. From here, just keep an eye on your health and make it to the helicopter. Not a very long or complex level, but there are lots of enemies hiding in places which are not easy to shoot at and the download process takes a pretty long time, but if you have adequately prepared you will do fine. Also as a last note, when the game tells you to set claymores at the driveway, don’t do it then. The drive way will be crawling with enemies and the side of the house will be being assaulted as well, it is suicidal to try and put claymores down during the waves of attack when the game is telling you to do so. It is okay to let the enemies get to you, they have only two ways in the house and you can keep an eye on both as they both are choke points and not wide open space where you have not protection like outside the house.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Achievement Guide

Here is an achievement guide to Modern Warfare 2, hopefully I can help you root out those last few achievements you may have been having trouble with. First, the majority of the achievements come from just beating the game (which as it is so short, about 6 hours, is not a big deal) and still more come from beating the game and individual levels on different difficulties, so I am not going to cover those. Instead I am going to focus on the more tricky achievements which are not always apparent.

First is “Ghost,” a pretty simple achievement, all you have to do is plant the C4 in the level “Cliff Hanger” without alerting or injuring anyone. This if done properly is not a difficult achievement, just one which you need plenty of patience for. The snow storm will cover you for most of the level, but the real key to succeeding is to make use of the heartbeat monitor on your gun. This is going to be your best friend if you want to unlock this achievement. Beyond that, just take the level really slow and if you have to repeat level, just try to keep in mind when and where your enemies are going to be.

Another called “Pit Boss,” is also really simple, just run the pit in the first level (the basic training area with the cutouts you need to shoot) in under thirty seconds. This is not an easy accomplishment, but it can be done with practice. One of the not so obvious but fun achievements is “Col. Sanderson.” Real easy, you just need to kill seven chickens in less than ten seconds in the level The Hornet’s Nest. This sounds tough, but there are a lot of chickens near each other and the achievement’s difficulty comes more from not being apparent. The last one I am going to touch on is the “No Rest For the Wary” achievement. Again, a real easy but not apparent achievement, you just need to knife an enemy without him ever being aware of your presence, and the best place to do this is in the snow blizzard on the Cliffhanger level (but if you do this here you can’t achieve the Ghost achievement), there is a sleeping guard in a shack who is really easy to take out.

I just want to note that beyond these achievements I have listed, the rest come from excelling in the special ops portion of the game and just trying to kill as many people as you can with as few shots as possible, and using every type of weapon. My advice here, is that when you have the predator drone, use it as much as you can before you lose it, it will help you get a couple of achievements. Also don’t be afraid to use the attachments to your guns, switching weapons often and dual wielding as there are achievements for those as well.

Xbox 360 – Bioshock 2 Tips and Tricks (part 1) – Plasmids Guide

Bioshock 2 Tips and Tricks (part 1) – Plasmid Guide

In Bioshock 2 the system of plasmids has been brought back roughly the same as it was in Bioshock one. However, there are many plasmids to choose from and while they all have their own particular uses, you only have a small amount of adam which to buy the plasmids with. This guide’s intention is to help guide you in your decisions in buying plasmids to avoid wasting adam on unnecessary plasmids.

First off, I strongly recommend doing every little sister collection you can, in order to maximize the amount of adam you collect. Also I suggest rescuing the little sisters, for two reasons, first because the animation for harvesting adam from the sisters is quite disturbing (particularly because the little sisters constantly comment and the game really tries to make you feel guilty for hurting them). Secondly, while you get about a third more adam overall from harvesting, saving the little sisters will get you tonics and other useful items that you couldn’t otherwise get. Some of these are necessary for completing a few of the achievements.

Now, as for choice of plasmids, the key to choosing plasmids is ultimately determined by your game play style. Which, is a wonderful thing about Bioshock 2, the game is designed to easily handle a wide variety of styles. However, there are four key plasmids which, no matter the game play style, will be useful. These plasmids are Electro Bolt, Incinerate, Winter Blast, and Security Command. The first two are plasmids you get throughout the course of the events of the story as well as Security Command. As for the utilization of these plasmids, the general strategy for using the plasmids is to firstly stop enemies and secondly to injure them. To utilize these plasmids properly you need to upgrade Winter Blast and Electro Bolt to the third level as soon as possible. When Winter Blast is at the third level it freezes enemies into a solid block of ice with a tap instead of having to charge, similarly with Electro Bolt the chain lightening function is available at the third level with a tap instead of having to charge the move to achieve the same attack. It is important to upgrade these two plasmids because they prevent enemies from moving which is essential to wining the big battles against the tougher enemies. Next, Security Command is a rather useless plasmid until it is upgraded at least once because the first level it only redirects security bots and cameras to attack a single foe which isn’t necessary as the game gives you plenty of opportunity to hack the security systems which allows them to permanently work for you. At the second level however, the Security Command summons security bots that will fight for you. Lastly, the Incinerate plasmid is going to be your general attack plasmid. It causes continual damage as long as the enemies are on fire. Enemies that are on fire also have the opportunity to set other enemies on fire if they run into them. In addition, Incinerate causes the most damage, so you should upgrade it when you can, but it is not essential as it is already really powerful. The level upgrade of the Incinerate plasmid follow the same path as Winter Blast and Electro Bolt, with the third level being the second level charged attack as a tap and the charge as a continuous stream of the plasmid’s power.

Bioshock 2: Electro Bolt Plasmid:
What it does: Electro Bolt shoots electrical bolts to stun enemies. (it will also electrify water)
At third upgrade level: When Electro Bolt is at its third upgrade level the chain lightening effect (where the bolts jump from one enemy to the next) will occur with a tap of the button rather than having to charge it first.

Bioshock 2: Incinerate Plasmid:
What it does: Incinerate sets your foes ablaze. Enemies that are on fire can set other enemies on fire by running into them.
At third upgrade level: Incinerate increases in damage when it is upgraded.

Bioshock 2: Winter Blast Plasmid:
What it does: Freezes enemies, slowing their movement and attack.
At third upgrade level: When Winter Blast is at the third level it will freeze enemies into a solid block with a tap of the button rather than having to charge it first.

Bioshock 2: Security Command Plasmid:
What it does: Security Command redirect security bots to attack enemies instead of you.
At third upgrade level: Security Command level 3 upgrades the two security bots you can summon from the level two upgrade to their maximum.
