Financial Aid Call
56 minutes and 33 seconds. That’s how long it took me to get through to the Financial Aid office at Skagit Valley Community College. Although this is quite a long time, it’s not bad for this being the first day of classes. I’m sure the Financial Aid office is being hammered with students full of questions, kinda like myself.
I do have a complaint however, the Skagit Valley Community College website. Not bad looking, and full of information. But that is the problem, they have information in several different locations without any indication of where the rest of the information is. For instance, I’m about to graduate with my ATA in MIT as a Web / Graphics Designer. I’m on the wait list for a class that if I don’t get into will delay my graduation for another quarter. That sucks, but I’ll live. Anyway, I was a bit worried that I may not have enough credits this quarter to be eligible to receive my student loans. I went on over to the website and attempted to find the information I was looking for. After about an hour of finding nothing, I gave up and decided to call and ask. Then, whilst I was on the phone waiting to ask my myriad of questions, including the one above, I decided to take a look for other degree / certificate offerings from Skagit Valley CC. It took me about 30 minutes to locate the information on what degrees and certificates they offer. And the only reason I was able to find it was by viewing the PDF of their course catalog.
With that being said, the person in the Financial Aid office that I spoke with was very helpful and answered all of my questions with ease.
