Farm Town: Tips and Tricks part 2 (Facebook)

Farm Town power leveling
Want to buy your levels? No problem. You just need a good bit of cash on hand.

As some of you may know, there are a couple different ways in which you can earn XP (Experience) in the facebook application game farm town. For instance, plowing a field earns you 1 XP, planting a crop earns you 2 XP. As outlined in my Tips and Tricks part 1, this is the reason that 1 day harvest crops are the best experience earners. You can also earn experience for planting trees you buy, but those are quite expensive. There is another, possibly less known tactic for earning XP. Buying items from the “Barn, Other” category of the store.

Buying your Farm Town levels at the best possible price.
Just the facts.
Cheapest possible plowing / crop combo: Strawberry @ $50 for 3 XP and a $35 profit / day.
Fastest leveling: Buying the Hay Bale from the store @ $50 for 5 XP.

Buying the Hay Bale may seem useless. In fact, it is. At the point in time of this article, it’s only use is for aesthetics. However, you can delete these after you buy them. Or, if you have earned the Influential Neighbor Trophy you can sell them for $2. Allowing you to buy an amount limited only by the amount of money you have on hand. For instance, I have $78,382, this would allow me to buy 1567 Hay Bales. At 5 XP a piece, this would return 7835 XP. This is enough to take a player from level 0 to 18. Or from 18 to 23. Keep in mind, it’s not really beneficial if you spend all of your money doing this as you wouldn’t have enough money to plant more crops. Unless you have a lot of neighbors that will let you harvest, in farm town crops are where the money is, and it takes money to plant crops.

I’ll outline the best recipe for success using this method in my next post.

    Do you know about the bug that lets you almost double the capacity of plowed fields on your farm? I worked out how to plow fields practically halfway over one that is already there. Instead of getting 14 plowed fields per column, you can get 21 (maybe 22).

    Grapes are way more profitable than strawberries. You get a 27 coin profit with every field, and you can plant 3 to 4 times per day because they’re done in 4 hours. That’s 108 per field every day as opposed to 35 for strawberries. Not only that, but the experience is nuts.

    @Travis:
    Absolutely! I updated my findings in my tips and tricks part 4 after the release of the grapes. One thing also that I failed to point out is that strawberries were best used (prior to grapes) when a person was unable to plant their entire farm with them due to financial constraints. Once money is not an object, potatoes become more profitable. Although they have a higher initial cost, their profit is also higher per field. As mentioned, strawberries were better because they could allow you to plant more individual fields than could be achieved with potatoes if you had limited cash resources. But all that is useless now. Grapes are the way to go if you can handle the tedious planting and re-planting.

    I wish you could mass buy hay bales. Like hedges and paths. Currently you can only buy one at a time. Sure take a while if you want to buy 1000+ of them.

    Are you figuring the cost of plowing a field when calculating profit? For example:
    Raspberry costs $15 and is sold for $47, for a profit of $32. But when you figure in the $20 cost of plowing, that’s just $12 profit. Of course, they’re still big yielders if you plant as many times per day as possible, but this might be something to consider.

  • Rick Says:

    @Naomi
    I sure am. I add both the plowing and seed costs together to form an overall cost for each crop.

    Has anyone discovered what I did about over planting? I have planted up to 100 flowers (crown of thorns for 1 xp for 25 coins) in the SAME SPOT. you leave the mouse in the same place and it will plant another one as you left click. You have to make sure that the avatar is not glowing and wait as the points come up. Once you get used to it – it is ok. ONLY DOWNSIDE: If you want to move or delete the flower? You can only do ONE at a time, then you have to refresh the page to move or delete the next one. If you have planted a lot and decide to move them all – it’s a pain. UPSIDE: When you water them – you get all the points for how many every you planted – and it only shows up as ONE flower, in ONE spot.
