Facebook Vampire Wars Tips and Tricks (part 1)

Facebook Vampire Wars First Impressions
Prior to playing Vampire Wars, I had wondered if it was going to be exactly like Mafia Wars, only themed differently. Although this assumption appears to be correct, it is not at all disappointing. The main underlying structure is the same, however, there are several other features that make the game quite unique. In fact, I believe some of these features would be downright awesome to see in Mafia Wars.

Facebook Vampire Wars Missions
The mission system is quite similar to that of Mafia Wars and several other Zynga games. Energy is spent in order to earn blood (the Vampire Wars equivalent to money from Mafia Wars) and Experience. Each Vampire Wars Mission has a percentage scale that, once filled, rewards you with a Skill Point.

There are currently 5 different mission tiers in Vampire Wars.
Fledgling – Neophyte – Adept – Savant – Deathbringer

The in-game descriptive information for the Fledgling Missions tier in Vampire Wars is as follows.

Vampire Wars Fledgling Missions
Vampires live and die by the blood they have. Missions are one of the primary ways to earn blood. Under the “Payout” section, each mission displays the amount of blood you will receive for completing it and the amount of Exp you will gain. The requirements for the mission are listed to the right of the payout. Each mission requires a certain amount of energy to complete, and certain missions require a certain number of clan members and certain abilities (in varying amounts.) If you meet all the requirements, click the “Do Mission” button to complete the mission and reap the rewards!
Earn additional experience and blood when you request help on a mission. The more clan that respond, the better the rewards. Make sure you hit the publish button to increase your chances of a bigger payout. You can send out 1 help request every 48 hours, so choose wisely.
Mission Mastery: Each time you complete a mission, your level of mastery for that mission goes up. Master a mission completely and receive a skill point. Master each mission in the same tier and receive a trophy and a new title!
The in-game descriptive information for the Neophyte missions tier in Vampire Wars is as follows.

Facebook Vampire Wars Abilities
Abilities in Vampire Wars are comparable to items in Mafia Wars. There are Offensive, Defensive and Movement abilities. The in-game description for abilities in Vampire Wars is as follows:

Vampire Wars Abilities
The true display of your undead power! Abilities are vital for success in combat. New abilities are unlocked as you level up. You may learn as many abilities as you can afford – each costs a certain amount of blood. You may also unlearn an ability, but you will only get half the blood back you paid for that ability.
Abilities are divided into three types: Offensive Abilities, Defensive Abilities, and Movement Abilities. Each of your clan members can equip one of EACH type of ability, and each instance of the ability can only be used by one member at a time. Abilities are automatically selected and equipped for your clan with each fight.
When attacking, you will automatically use your abilities with the highest attack stats. When defending from another user’s attack, you will use your abilities with the highest defense traits.
Certain abilities require upkeep costs. These abilities display the amount of blood they require under their names. These amounts are added together for your Total Upkeep cost (displayed at the top of the page.) This amount will be taken from your reserves every hour. If you do not have enough blood on hand, it will deduct the amount from your blood bank.
Each of the basic abilities can be mastered to improve its stats. There are 3 levels of mastery: Better, Greater, and Superior. You can improve every ability once per day for a cost of blood, but you can improve an ability multiple times per day for favor points. You must own at least one of an ability to improve it. Each improvement has a blood cost, which moves the Ability Mastery meter a small percentage. Once the meter is full, all copies of that ability are Mastered.
Your Mastery level never goes away, even if you sell the ability. Mastered abilities have higher stats making them well worth the trouble, but they have a higher upkeep as well, so beware!

Facebook Vampire Wars Blood Magic
Elder Mandy will spin the wheel and grant you and some of your clan either a beneficial Blood Magic spell or a detrimental curse. The in-game description states:

Blood Magic
This little Elder knows the secrets to Blood Magic. Blood Magic is a way to give yourself and your clan members powerful abilities for a limited time. The number of members (and which members are affected) is random, but you will always receive the benefit of the spell.
Be careful, though. It is possible to be Cursed. If you spin a Curse, only you will be affected. Curses last for a set amount of time and have varying detrimental effects.
If you want to try your luck, you can spin The Wheel once every four hours for a certain cost in blood. However, if you want to spin more often you can pay 15 favor points and half the normal blood cost to spin again.
You can only be affected by one of each type of spell. If a clan member casts the same one on you again, your timer will be reset.
Note that there are weaker and more powerful versions of each spell (and curse!) Higher-level versions of the same spell will always replace weaker ones.

Facebook Vampire Wars Stats
The Stats system is the same as Mafia Wars with one acception, Stamina has been replaced with Rage which acts in the same manner.
The in-game description for stats in Vampire Wars is as follows:
Stats
The stats page is all about you – your vampire, your skills. This page offers you a complete overview of your vampire. Your name, current level, and Attack/Defense/Health/Energy Rage stats are displayed, as are statistics such as number of missions completed, fights won & lost, rivals killed, and deaths. Finance statistics (total income, upkeep, and current blood flow) are also listed. Abilities and their amounts are also displayed.
This is also where you can come to spend the skill points gained from leveling up. Each time you gain a level you are awarded 5 skill points. Spend 1 point to raise your Attack, Defense, Max Energy, or Max Health by 1. Spend 2 points to increase your max rage by 1. Note that this is the only way your stats can increase – they will not automatically go up as you level.
